How to Lock Bitlocker Drive without restart

BitLocker is an best security feature in Windows 7,
it allows you  to encrypt drives on your computer, on external hard drive and keep it password protected.

 Don't Worry! Here we are sharing a easiest way to lock bitlocker encrypted drive in very less time. If someone has asked you to use your computer for sometime then you don't need to reboot the system to relock the drive. By using the method given in below tutorial you can save your time.

Step 1 - Open CMD:

First of all you have to open Command prompt with Administrator rights. With this article we are also sharing a shortcut for opening CMD either with Admin privileges or normal.

• Press Window + X
• A menu will appear, Select Command Prompt (Admin)
• Done! CMD will open with Admin rights.

Step 2 - Enter Command:

 Now you have to enter an easy command to lock you drive. In command we have to give Drive letter which is to be locked. Drive letter can any letter i.e D,E,F. But in this command we will use X: as a drive letter to give you concept of this trick. You have to replace your drive letter with X
Command is given below,

manage-bde -lock X:

 Again revising that replace X with your Drive letter. Press Enter and you will see that your drive iis locked without restarting window.

Bitlocker Command for Locking Drive

     Sometimes This command do not work because that drive is in use. For this problem we have a solution. You should try this to forcefully lock your drive. For forcing drive to be locked if it is being used, we add a more attribute of -forcedismount to lock the drive at any cost.

manage-bde -lock -forcedismount X:

Bonus Trick:

Commands given above will do your work perfectly but for better performance we are giving you a Trick for trying this trick...... You might think it boring to type these commands every time in CMD to lock your drives. For this you can create a file with .bat extension and write your commands in it.

Steps for creating this file are given below,

1. Open notepad
2. Type command given above in this tutorial i.e manage-bde -lock -forcedismount X:
3. From Menu bar click on File then click on "Save As"
4. Select Save Type to "All Files"
5. Then in name field type file name and add .bat at the end of file name
6. Save File

Whenever you want to run these command then right click on file and select "run as administrator"
